What Is a Private Home X-ray?
A private home X-ray service sends a HCPC-registered radiographer directly to your address with portable, fully calibrated digital X-ray equipment. The examination is performed on-site — in your home, care home, nursing home, or workplace — to exactly the same clinical standard as a hospital radiology department, but without the waiting times, travel, or inconvenience.
All images are reviewed under consultant radiologist-led reporting. Written reports are issued on the same day as your examination. Urgent same-day reporting is available for time-sensitive clinical situations, and reports can be shared directly with your GP, specialist, or care team.
Our mobile X-ray service is particularly suited to elderly patients, care home residents, patients with mobility difficulties or chronic illness, post-operative patients, and busy professionals who value the privacy and efficiency of a home appointment. We accept self-referrals and GP or consultant referrals. Self-referrals are subject to clinician review by Radpid Diagnostics in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017 regulations to confirm clinical justification before the examination proceeds.
We operate under IR(ME)R 2017 regulations and follow strict radiation protection and infection control protocols on every visit. Our radiographers carry all necessary protective equipment and are experienced in working with frail, elderly, and vulnerable patients.

How Our Home X-ray Service Works
From booking to report — a simple, clinical, and fully managed process.
Book online or by phone
Select your examination, choose a date and time slot, and complete your patient details. Attach a referral form from a medical practitioner if you have one. Same-day appointments are available with at least 4 hours' notice. Call 01322 914330 for urgent requests.
Complete your self-referral assessment (if you do not already have a referral)
For X-ray examinations, a brief clinical assessment is required under IR(ME)R 2017 regulations. This takes less than 5 minutes and can be completed online. Your self-referral will then be reviewed and authorised by a Radpid Diagnostics clinician before your appointment is confirmed. GP referrals are also accepted.
Your radiographer arrives
A HCPC-registered radiographer arrives at your home, care home, or workplace at the agreed time with portable digital X-ray equipment. They will explain the procedure, position you correctly, and perform the examination.
Consultant radiologist-led reporting
Your digital X-ray images are transmitted electronically for consultant radiologist-led reporting. Written reports are issued on the same day as your examination.
Receive your report
Your written radiologist report is delivered securely by email. You can share it directly with your GP, specialist, or care team. Urgent reports are available for time-sensitive clinical situations.
